The year 2009 is quite an exciting year for Formula 1. With lots of dramas and issues, I can still say it’s the best racing event anywhere in the world. Some teams win. Some teams lose. And some “just got lucky” as they say.

Setting aside the “getting lucky” hypothesis, Jenson Button proved he’s got the skills. Jenson Button proved he belonged to the F1 race track as he bagged the first 2 grand prix races of 2009 at Australia and then Malaysia. Sebastian Vettel won’t let himself be left behind so he scores in at the Chinese grand prix. Button comes back and seized the next 4 championship races at Bahrain, Spain, Monaco and Turkey. What a great display of maneuver. Button really made the Brawn GP proud.

Lewis Hamilton wanted to win at the Silverstone British grand prix, but Sebastian Vettel is thirsty for his second win. In Germany, Vettel’s team mate Mark Webber nailed it earning his first F1 championship win for 2009. It was only at Budapest, Hungary grand prix that the reigning Formula 1 world driver’s champion Lewis Hamilton prevailed. Finally a dream come true for Jenson Button’s team mate Rubens Barrichello as he gets his hands on the F1 trophy at the European grand prix at Valencia.

The Grand Prix of Belgium will take place on 30th August 2009

As I write this article, Hamilton seems to be itching for his second win as he leads the second practice (dry session) at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. The Belgian grand prix is the 12th race out of 17. Six more races to go. Six more beautiful countries to visit. What are your predictions? Will Ferrari payback? Can Vettel outplay Barrichello? …and by the way, where’s Alonso?

V4 on two wheels? Yep - Desmosedici is the name of the series of motorcycles developed by Ducati to compete in the MotoGP World Championship. GPx indicates the version of the bike, where x corresponds to the year the bike raced (ie the Desmosedici GP9 raced in 2009).

RR means Racing Replica. The Ducati Desmosedici RR is a limited production road-legal version of the Desmosedici MotoGP racebike. Cool.
